Richard Aidley

"My work deals with the rhythms that pervade natural forms. I hold the tension between those rhythms expressed through space by static objects and those expressed through time by moving ones; the landscape is the paramount avatar of the first and the human form the exemplar of the second. For this show, I have added a third; concentrating on the Rhythms expressed within the mind, in the shape of thoughts. This last series of paintings explores thoughts through the metaphor of doorways, which open or close opportunities, or sometimes just show us what could be".
