Brewhouse secures funding for new MicroBeats classes

The Brewhouse has received a grant from Youth Music totalling £50,080 over the next 2 years to deliver an exciting project engaging young people aged between 8 – 16 in Burton in making music  – from lyric writing, to music production, singing and laying down their own tracks. The project is being delivered in partnership with Baby People, an award winning music and arts development organisation based in Derby; they run the first dedicated hip hop school in the UK.

Professional music leaders from Baby People and The Brewhouse will work with young people in local schools, queens street community centre and the Brewhouse to increase participants confidence at using music technology to produce and perform music of their own.

As part of the project, there will be two MicroBeats workshops at the Brewhouse taking place in February half term. The fun packed days are the perfect opportunity for young people to experience a wide range of music activities: lyric writing and MCing, music production and singing.
