Thu 11th Jul - Sun 11th Aug All Day Free Exhibition

The pieces of art work in this exhibition have been created by people with lived experience of sexual abuse and violence. By taking part in creative workshops and displaying their artistic creations we hope to give them the opportunity to be heard, to gain confidence and to take control of their recovery. We also hope this impactful exhibition gives others the opportunity to better understand this type of crime, as well as empowering others who have experienced sexual abuse and violence to seek support.

This project was funded by the Connected Communities Team at Staffordshire University, as part of a Participatory Action Research (PAR) project led by Dr Laura Walton-Williams (Associate Professor of Gender Based Violence and co-founder of Staffordshire University’s Violence Against Women and Girls (SU-VAWG) Hub), Catherine Miles (Chief Executive of SARAC, Sexual Abuse and Rape Advice Centre in Burton-upon-Trent), Andrew Watts (Survivor and SARAC volunteer) and Bethany Small (MSci Forensic Investigation graduate, Staffordshire University).

We would like to thank all of the artists who led the fantastic creative workshops and all of the participants who have generously provided their artwork to be included in this exhibition.
