Founding member of Ocean Colour Scene Steve Cradock has added further dates to his solo tour, following unprecedented demand from fans.

Steve has added a raft of new dates to his Travellers Tunes tour in 2027, kicking off in Bude, Cornwall, in February, and concluding at London’s Union Chapel on April 25.

Steve kicked off his tour earlier this month, and has already sold-out many dates including two nights at Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room.

The tour has been complemented by Steve’s new book – also called Travellers Tunes, and looks back on his incredible career.

As a member of Ocean Colour Scene, Steve is responsible for some of the most distinctive riffs of the past 30 years. The man gave us The Riverboat Song, Hundred Mile High City, and The Day We Caught the Train, helping propel the band to double-platinum glory with Moseley Shoals.

Hundred Mile High City gained the band further fame, when it was used in Guy Richie’s most iconic film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998.

OCS was founded in 1989 by Steve, Simon Fowler, Damon Michella, and Oscar Harrison in Solihull, West Midlands. They rose to fame during the height of the Brit rock renaissance, had five top 10 albums, and played in front of 250,000 people at Oasis’s seminal Knebworth Park gigs in 1996.

Cradock went on to establish himself further when he joined Paul Weller’s band in 1992, appearing on all his studio albums. He also joined the Iconic Ska band The Specials in 2014 until the death of Terry Hall in 2022. In his debut tour, Steve will be playing and performing hits from the OCS songbook, highlights from his extensive solo career, and will also be discussing some of the topics his fans are most curious about.

Steve said: “I am having a brilliant time on the road right now and when the opportunity to do it all again next year [was discussed], I couldn’t refuse.”

Tickets go on sale at 10:00 on Friday, March 20, 2026. For more details go to Travellers Tunes – Brewhouse Arts Centre and Café Bar

Happy Mondays frontman, Shaun Ryder, has released a new book packed with jaw-dropping, side-splitting, mind-bending stories.

Following the success of his first book – Shaun Ryder: Happy Mondays, And Fridays, And Saturdays, And Sundays – he’s released a second memoir of madness, music and mayhem. Available to pre-order from awaywithmedia.com, 24 Hour Party Person is a no-holds-barred ride through the highs, lows and chemically-enhanced in-betweens of a true rock ’n’ roll original.

Dodging bullets in Jamaica, surviving a gunpoint ordeal in New York and escaping kidnap in Amsterdam are just part of this unfiltered gospel according to the Happy Mondays and Black Grape frontman.

With a wit sharper than a dealer’s razor and stories wilder than Bez on a trampoline, Shaun lifts the lid on the studio sessions, the bust-ups, the benders, the making of era-defining albums – and the importance of family.

It’s a tale of survival, swagger and second chances. Strap yourself in… and prepare to have your melons well and truly twisted.

Shaun said: “I had a right laugh writing my first book and people liked it so when the chance to write another came up, I thought ‘why not?’ I’ve got even more mad tales to tell. I’ve written more books than Shakespeare now – well, nearly!”

Each copy is signed personally by Shaun Ryder on an exclusive book plate. The book compliments Shaun’s Q&A tour which returns to theatres in England this autumn.

Books, priced £45, are available to pre-order now. Full details here.

Shaun is bringing his tour to the Brewhouse this October, get your tickets today! Shaun Ryder – Happy Mondays, & Fridays, & Saturdays, & Sundays – Brewhouse Arts Centre and Café Bar

Dreaming of a Creative Career?

Whether you’re curious about design, media, writing, performance, or production, we’re here to help you kickstart your dream career or discover what it could be. We’ve teamed up with youth arts charity RicNic to deliver a week-long work experience programme this summer from Monday 6th July – Friday 10th July.

During this placement, young people will work alongside each other, meet and quiz industry professionals and shadow members of the Brewhouse team. RicNic will lead those on placement through a series of sessions that aim to develop career ambitions, whilst providing an insight into skills needed for the creative industries. Sessions will cover topics such as creative pathways, budget management, planning an event, marketing, and fundraising. At the end of the week, participants will create their own project and pitch this to a panel.

We’re currently accepting expressions of interest, which can be submitted via this online form.

Big Laughs, Bold Stories, Pirates & a Talking Cat, The Brewhouse’s New Season Has It All!

If you haven’t yet discovered The Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton upon Trent, you’re in for a treat, and if you already know us, well, we’re about to raise the curtain on one of our most exciting seasons yet. From August to December 2025, our lively creative hub will be bursting with jaw-dropping theatre, live music, laugh-out-loud comedy, magical family shows, hands-on workshops, films, exhibitions, and a few surprises along the way.

This is your invitation to step inside a venue that truly does it all. Our 233-seat auditorium, comfy cinema, dance studios, gallery spaces, and meeting rooms are home to everything from professional productions and community showcases to art classes and private film screenings. You can even hire our spaces to bring your own creative ideas to life.

The Stage is Set – Here’s What’s Coming Up
Music lovers are spoilt for choice this season. On 17th October, the multi award-winning folk duo Ninebarrow take to the stage as part of Burton Folk Club’s 60th anniversary celebrations. With harmonies described by BBC Radio’s Mark Radcliffe as “like two halves of one voice,” Jon and Jay’s stunning performances are inspired by the landscapes and stories of the British Isles.

And if you love folk music, you’re in for a treat in November when acclaimed singer-songwriter Ellie Gowers graces our stage. Known for her captivating voice and intricate guitar work, Ellie weaves together traditional and contemporary folk influences to create songs that are as thought-provoking as they are beautiful.

The season also brings a host of irresistible tribute acts. November kicks off with the D Day Darlings on the 6th, followed by the Fleetwood Mac Songbook on the 7th and Floyd in the Flesh on the 8th. Mid-month, fresh from the Cavern, Beatles Complete bring their infectious energy on the 15th, and the year rounds off in true party style on 19th December with Word Up 80’s Christmas, an evening of high-energy anthems to dance the night away.

For those looking for something a little more daring, Absinthe, our brand-new cabaret night, makes its sparkling debut this October. Hosted by a fabulous line-up, this glitter-filled evening blends drag, burlesque, comedy, music, and everything in between. Expect big personalities, outrageous fun, and a night that’s as unpredictable as it is unforgettable.

Bestselling author and broadcaster Charlie Connelly sails in on 14th November with Attention All Shipping – A Celebration of the Shipping Forecast, charting the quirky history of this much-loved broadcast.

Comedy is back in force with our Brew-ha-ha House Comedy Nights (3 Oct and 21 Nov), featuring top circuit comedians like Kate Martin, Cerys Nelmes, Matt Price, Samantha Day, Chris Brooker and Jules O’Brian. Plus, on 20th November, magician and comic James Phelan brings The Man Who Was Magic, an unforgettable blend of illusions and laughs.

Family Adventures Await
This season, little imaginations (and big ones too!) are in for a treat with two festive showstoppers. On 28th October, Puss in Boots struts onto our stage, a purr-fectly magical twist on the classic fairytale, packed with smoke, mirrors, clever puppetry, hidden trapdoors and even a working windmill!

Then in December, the fabulous Babbling Vagabonds sail back into town with Captain Sprout & the Christmas Pirates. From 15th–23rd December, join this swashbuckling crew for a festive adventure brimming with magical shadow puppetry, toe-tapping original songs, and heaps of audience participation.

More Than a Theatre
Our Brewhouse on Tour programme takes free family fun into local parks this summer, including the world premiere of TREES – A Tale of The Rootkin, co-commissioned with the National Forest and supported by Arts Council England.

Inside the building, you’ll find creative workshops for all ages, from pre-school movement to artist masterclasses, plus our much-loved art café for adults with additional needs and their carers. Our newly upgraded cinema screens an inspiring mix of films, and local amateur groups bring favourite shows like Shrek the Musical, Little Women, Carousel, Legally Blonde, and Beauty and the Beast Jr to life. So, whether you’re here to watch, create, or hire a space of your own, The Brewhouse is where Burton comes to life.

Individuals are being given the chance to get their hands on one of 14 unique art sculptures next month as popular heritage art trail the Burton Barrel Roll comes to an end.

Celebrating heritage

The Burton Barrel Roll, which was held in Burton town centre for 10 weeks over the summer, attracted more than 31,000 visitors to the area, adding more than £600,000 to the local economy through additional spending in cafes, restaurants and shops.

Artists from across the UK hand painted 1.5m high 3D fibreglass beer barrels with bespoke designs celebrating the town’s heritage, environment and community as part of the trail which covered 4.4 miles of paths through the town centre.

Barrel roll auction date

Organisers, Making Trails, are now holding an auction at 7pm on Tuesday 22nd October at The Brewhouse Arts Centre, in Union Street, Burton, to find forever homes for the unique artwork. All proceeds will go towards creating a permanent art installation in the town, leaving a lasting legacy of the event.

Tilley Bancroft, founder of Making Trails, said she hoped people would take the opportunity to secure a limited-edition piece of artwork celebrating the town’s longstanding connections with the brewing industry.

She said: “The Burton Barrel Roll has been our most popular trail yet with more than 31,000 visitors flocking to see the designs over the summer. It is now time to find the beautiful barrels forever homes.

“Hand painted by local artists and featuring unique designs they are the perfect opportunity for businesses or individuals to get their hands on a bespoke piece of artwork celebrating the very best of Burton.

“Successful bidders will not only be securing a unique 3D sculpture but helping to provide a lasting legacy for the town as the funds will go towards creating a new, permanent art installation in the town.”

Each of the 14 barrel sculptures have been hand painted by artists with designs including anything from famous local people and landmarks to hops, bees, biscuits and even outer space.

Boost to local economy

The Burton Barrel Roll is the third art sculpture trail by Making Trails held in the town since 2020. Attracting its largest number of visitors to date research from the event shows each visitor spending on average £20 in local shops and cafes providing a huge boost to the local economy as well.

Tickets for the Burton Barrel Roll Auction cost £25 and include a welcome reception with drinks and canapes as well as a lively trail quiz. Each barrel has a reserve price of £400.
