The Joy of Stitch
Derby Embroidery and Textiles Group is a large group of people with a love of all things textiles. They meet the second Saturday of each month at St Mary’s Church Hall, Darley lane, Derby. As a group, they find that stitching enables them to connect and gives them a sense of belonging.
For this exhibition, group members were encouraged to stitch whatever the joy of stitching meant to them. This has culminated in a colourful and eclectic body of work.
They say, “The act of stitching in its many forms is both meditative and therapeutic and we find its repetitive nature encourages mindfulness. It enables us to get together and bond over a shared act of creativity, tea and cake.”
